Hi,

i added

[00:04:23:2a:c5:5d]
PRINTER_0_DEVICE=/dev/usblp0
PRINTER_0_PORT = 9100

to /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/lts.conf

added a printer 'socket://192.168.0.203:9100' to cups
but got 'Printer is busy' when trying to print.

I could not telnet the host until i manually executed
'/usr/sbin/jetpipe /dev/usblp0 9100' on the workstation.

Now printjobs are shown as 'finished' but the connected printer keeps on
doesnt print anything.

Any hints for me?

Manfred

unfortunately it seems that local printing is broken in debian because
of licensing issues :-(

Printers have been supported in LTSP upstream (and in Debian) since 2007
with the introduction of "jetpipe"... If there are still issues with
printing support on Debian (or presumably, any other distro), please
report a bug about it.

That was written in 2007, and contains both outdated and incorrect
information. It references an even older email from 2006, which refers
to the removal of lp_server. It also mentions that lp_server was a fork
of p910nd, but they shared no code in common.

Interestingly enough, p910nd is now in Debian (and Ubuntu) as a separate
source package...
